We don’t normally send many direct appeals for money, but this appeal is so important, I just had to ask if you can help.
You may have seen recent reports about the number of men taking their own lives in our area.
We want to do something about this, and with your help, we can.
We urgently need to raise £22,500 to run a weekly peer support group called ‘You Matter, for men living in Hull and the East Riding who are at risk, or have attempted suicide. The peer support group will enable them to talk and support each other in their recovery.
We ran this group successfully last year, but our funding has now run out- we really want to run more groups so we can help more men in our area. By raising £22,500 we can run one year’s worth of this tried and tested suicide prevention group and help up to 45 men.
That’s £500 per man we support to find his hope again. To want to live again.
Suicide doesn’t have to be the only way for men experiencing suicidal thoughts. With the right support, they can begin to see a way through, and realise that their life matters. With this funding, we know we can make a real, direct difference to the lives of men in the local area.
Michael, who took part in ‘You Matter’ last year, said ’If it wasn’t for the group, I don’t think I’d be here now. It helps save lives.’
Help us to make a difference.
