Counselling for Adults

Counselling support

Are you experiencing anxiety, depression, loss or bereavement, work related stress or a range of other emotions impacting on your day-to-day life?

It may seem hard to reach out for support, but it’s important to remember that it’s okay to ask for help and you deserve to get the support you need.

Counselling allows you the opportunity to talk about issues affecting your life in a safe and confidential environment. It can help you to explore your thoughts and feelings in order to change behaviours and achieve your goals. This can lead to positive change with increased self-confidence, self-esteem and the ability to face the future.

Our free counselling service is for individuals aged 18 and above registered with a GP in Hull. This service is provided in collaboration with NHS Hull Talking Therapies and may have a waiting list due to its high demand. For East Riding, you will need to contact NHS East Riding Talking Therapies.

UKSPF Exploring Opportunities East Riding

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind are working in partnership with Humber Learning Consortium (HLC) delivering counselling as part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Exploring Opportunities East Riding (EOER) programme, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

This is an employment programme, aimed at economically inactive and unemployed adults and young people (16+) living in the East Riding of Yorkshire area. The programme aims to progress beneficiaries into employment or further learning by providing a support package that helps address their barriers to employment, e.g., debt advice, mental health issues, personal development, social activities, employability skills, self-employment advice and support, volunteering, work experience, ICT, literacy and numeracy support, and job search.

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind deliver counselling services to participants on the programme who are experiencing difficulties relating to their mental health. Participants can access to one-to-one sessions with the same qualified counsellor and take place at various locations in the East Riding area or online.

For further information, or to discuss a referral, please contact an Exploring Opportunities East Riding Key Worker from one of the programme partners:

  • ActivFirst (Bridlington area)
  • East Riding Council (ER-wide)
  • Shores (Withernsea)
  • Two Rivers Community Pantry (Goole)
  • Working for Health (Cottingham)
  • Yorkshire in Business (ER-wide)

This has been just what I needed. The care, listening, perception, tools, skills etc have helped me no end. It has helped to know that there was someone here for me and helping me on my mental health journey.

Jessica
