HULL KR FOUNDATION DELIGHTED WITH ‘TEAMING UP FOR HEALTH’ IMPACT ON LOCAL COMMUNITY

By May 24, 2022No Comments

This week, the Hull KR Foundation will be highlighting some of our achievements over past 12 months of the ‘Teaming Up for Health’ partnership. Delivered with the financial support of NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group, the project is now in its fourth year of delivery, with the community teams at Hull KR and Hull FC working alongside health partners across the city on prevention and early intervention health and wellbeing activities.

Ian Spencer, Community Integrated Manager with Hull KR Foundation oversees the Teaming up for Health Programme and is delighted to see it the partnership highlighted this weekend: Teaming Up for Health has already achieved a great deal in tackling health inequalities across the city. As we address the wider impact of the Covid 19 pandemic the aims and objectives of the programme are more pertinent than ever.

We are fully aware of the challenges facing local people since the pandemic and we have been focusing on utilising the power of rugby league to improve mental health, reduce feelings of loneliness, and inspire people to get more active’

Over the course of the week, the Hull KR Foundation will share some of the work we are doing in our community and speak to the people involved to hear how Teaming Up for Health is having a positive impact on their lives.”

Erica Daley, Interim Chief Operating Officer, NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group added:

“We started our work with the foundations at both Hull FC and Hull KR four years ago and it has been an incredibly successful partnership. It offers us an opportunity to spread key health messages across the two club’s fan bases and that is a cohort of our population in Hull that we might otherwise have been unable to reach in such an impactful way. The connection people feel with rugby in Hull is so strong that it makes it much easier to engage fans in coming along and joining in.

“So far, the partnership has focused on key areas of health including children’s physical and mental health, giving us the opportunity to educate about healthy lifestyles at that early stage in a person’s life. We have also focused on men’s and older people’s mental health and wellbeing through activity sessions such as Food for Thought and Our Best Years. I would encourage anyone with or without an interest in rugby to come along to any of the sessions which are relevant to them.”
